Each book for the practice test is $38 per book (per student). Since our practice tests are made for the entire grade at a school, we do not permit purchases for less than 90 students. So, after putting this product in your shopping cart, be sure to increase the product number to at least 90 - to get our price of $3420. If you have more than 92 students per grade simply enter that number and make your purchse. If you have any questions give us a call at 310-486-3169. Once you purchase, we will give you a call and ask what grade level you would like. If you purchased the print copy version of the test for your students, we will call you with an approximate time the material will be mailed to you. Please allow 3 weeks for the material to arrive. For those schools and districts interested in the online practice test, the cost is $76 per student. The online practice test enables students to not only get a feel of taking the actual CAST test which is an online test, but also enables teachers to receive automatic grading and summary reports that show how well students understand the NGSS standards that the CAST tests against. If you believe that science is for all students, and you’d like to help close the achievement gaps between various groups of students, this online NGSS course is for you. Statistics show concerning gaps between groups of students in their achievement of science standards, scientific literacy, interest in science careers, and preparedness for science fields. In 2013, the California State Board of Education adopted the NGSS for grades K-12 in order to bridge some of those gaps and improve science education for all students. Every day, an increasing number of students experience trauma that may adversely affect their learning, relationships, and life-trajectories.
According to the Department of Justice, more than half of children in the U.S. were exposed to trauma in the past year, and 40% are direct victims of multiple acts of violence (higher percentages are represented in urban schools). This study also shows that students exposed to violence are more likely to be delinquent, struggle in and drop out of school; as well as to suffer from anxiety, depression, and PTSD, abuse drugs and alcohol, and engage in criminal activities (https://www.justice.gov/archives/defendingchildhood/facts-about-children-and-violence). Trauma can greatly affect students' ability to learn. But through trauma-informed instruction, teachers and other educators can be factors of healing towards success, despite these odds. This course guides educators through a paradigm shift, toward deeper understanding, heightened sensitivity, and increased efficacy in teaching students affected by trauma.
